Accessibility

Last reviewed: 23 October 2026

Roz should work for you with a screen reader, with large text, in your language and in its direction. This page lists what Roz 1.3 supports, how it is checked, and what isn't finished yet.

Screen readers (TalkBack)

  • Every control in Roz's own design kit has a label in the app's language: task checkboxes say “Done” or “Not done”, and AI buttons say their price and your balance, such as “Costs 2 credits, you have 14”.
  • The selected tab and option are announced, settings switches are read as switches, and the first-run screens mark their headings.
  • The app lock reads out how many digits you've entered, and a hidden number in the Vault says “Number hidden. Double-tap to show it.” instead of reading the digits.
  • Spreadsheets in Docs describe each cell as you move through them, and the PDF reader view lays a page's text out again for screen readers.

Touch targets

  • Buttons and checkboxes are at least 48 × 48 dp, the task checkbox included. An automatic check fails the build when one is smaller.

Text size and spacing

  • Roz follows your phone's font size up to 200%, and Settings → Appearance → Text size adds its own step on top (Small to Larger). Money has its own text size as well.
  • Layouts are checked automatically on a 720p phone at 100%, 130% and 200% text, in English and Arabic, for cut-off text, words split across lines and content off the screen.
  • Spacing can be Comfortable or Compact; buttons stay the same size.
  • Easier reading (Settings → Appearance) adds line spacing and a little letter spacing. Letter spacing is never added to Arabic, whose letters join.

Colour and contrast

  • Text meets the WCAG AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 in every theme, accent colour and light or dark combination, and this is checked automatically.
  • An accent colour you pick yourself is shaded until text on it is readable.
  • The High contrast theme makes secondary text and outlines nearly as strong as the main text (at least 7:1).
  • The Calm look removes decorative gradients and 3D art.

Motion

  • Celebrations follow your phone's “Remove animations” setting.

Language and direction

  • Roz's interface is available in 15 languages, and Arabic has a full right-to-left layout.
  • Numbers use Western digits everywhere by default; in Arabic you can switch to Arabic-Indic digits in Settings → Language.
  • On Android 14 and later, Arabic addresses you in the form you choose.

Navigation, devices and widgets

  • Predictive back and 3-button navigation are both supported.
  • On tablets and foldables Roz shows a navigation rail and keeps content at most 840 dp wide, and no screen is locked to one orientation.
  • Settings has a search field that also understands everyday words.
  • Each widget has its own text size, background and a high-contrast style (7:1).
  • Four app icon designs, each with Android's themed (monochrome) icon.

Not finished yet

  • The Today timeline and the charts in Reports and Money haven't had a full TalkBack review yet.
  • Some status labels (overdue, paid, expiring) still rely on colour and text without an icon.
  • There's no dyslexia-friendly font yet; Easier reading adds spacing instead.
